Common in shady areas. Varzea forest along riverbank.

Description
Terrestrial. Internodes short, 1-2 cm in diameter; cataphylls persistent, intact; petioles terete, matte; blades subcoriaceous, slightly bicolorous, dark green and semiglossy above, matte below; midrib acute above, prominently raised and paler below; primary lateral veins quilted-sunken above, pleated-raised below; inflorescences erect; spathe reflexed, green; spadix paler purple, sometimes merely pale green; tepals matte.
