Locality Babeldaob (Babelthuap) Island, central part, Garamiscan Col-
ony, upper Garamiscan (Almiokan) River
Habitat . grassy valley surrounded by low hills with small pineapple
patches, thickets and woods and eroded areas; red clay soil with
thin dike-like concretions. Very common and characteristic
on eroded area.

Remarks Erect scarcely branched shrub 1—2 m. tall«
thtrse and hyparithium purple, calyx lobes white
with purple tips; corolla purple.
