I have cultivated tills plant fbr several years# It is absolutely
constant, and in the characters of its seeds differs from the oilier
forms»sensu lato»of 0» hirta» It is not a variety in the sense that
it can We separated from the holotypic form in details of pubescence,
serration, and the like* It actually is one of the main subentities
into which 6» hirta can be broken up,with a range that is rather South
American than otherwise» For these reasons I recognizeethis entity as
CHMAESYCE HIRTA ( !»•) Millsp. subsp. PKOOJMBENS (D.C.) Crois*

Chamaesyee isAjupheld as a valid generic name not/only yon the basis
of phylogtny and morphology^<Tf the group which this name stands for is
denied generic rank it becomes necessary to merge within Phyllenthus such
universally recognized genera as Andraohne»Glochidicaa^Securlnega»yfrjr*1«faB
1mmi— Agyneia,Saur opus and Breyjtnla» Hone of these genera, and others
here not maationed but even as important for the classification of the
EuphoAiaceae, can be separated from Phyllanthus on the basis of characters
that are more significant those whereby Euphorbia can be distinguished
from Chamaesyee«
