Field notes: Herbs, 3-7 m tall, sheaths separating, ligules pubescent, leaves sessile, pubescent, nearly linear, inflorescence terminal, erect, flower buds cup-shaped, flowers white, labellum fleshy, arranged in one side of the rachis, fruits green, ellipsoid, calyx vestige persistent. Species belonging to Alpinia sect. Myriocrater, not easily distinguishable with Alpinia musifolia. 03946807
