Steep hillsides ca 12-13 km southwest of Pihuamo, in dense forest
over tumbled sharp-toothed limestone rocks, with Brosimum below,
and Bursera, Liabum, Verbesina and Louteridium above, elevation
500-600 m.

Weak, treelike, 5 m high; stem brittle,
6 cm diara; juice milky; bracts light red,
pink on backs; glands of involucre bright
yellow•
