11-12 miles southwest of Autlin (about 2 miles below the pass),
in oak zone; elevation ca. 1000 m.

Arching shrub to U m. high, 10 cm. diam,
at base; bracts bright red above; invol-
ucre red-tipped; glands golden; fruit
obtusely 3-lobed, narrowed to the apex.
