Sebastiania fruticosa (W. Bartram) Fern.
EUPHORBIACEAE
Shrubs to 4ft tall, occasional. Just inside a shady
swamp forest on a higher alluvial terrace in alluvial
sandy-loam (Duplin very fine sandy loam, very rarely
flooded; fine, kaolinitic, thermic Aquic Paleudults).
Growing with Acer rubrum, Ampelopsis arborea,
Betula nigra, Bignonia capreolata, Campsis radicans,
Carex cherokeensis, Carpinus caroliniana,
Dichanthelium commutatum, D. dichtomum, Hypericum
galioides, H. hypericoides, Liquidambar styraciflua,
Lygodium japonicum, Mitchella repens, Nyssa
sylvatica, Quercus laurifolia, Q. nigra, Sabal minor,
Smilax auriculata, S. walteri (?), Toxicodendron
radicans, Vaccinium elliottii & Vitis rotundifolia.
