Gavilan Hills: Southern CA Edison access road east of Lake
Street, c. 1 mi north of Hwy 15 and Temescal Canyon (Alberhill
7.5’ Q.: 33°44’39"N, 117°23'08"W, ±1000m). Alt:
¡497-500m/1630 1640ft. Steep-sided rocky canyon north of access
road, with Rhus laurina, Artemisia californica, Encelia
califomica, Bebbia juncea, Eriogonum elongatum, rubust annuals
and scarce non-native grasses. Clay loam soil on benches along
canyon walls, sandy gravel on canyon floor.
Uncommon, erect annual to 1.5 m tall, at mouth of canyon;
yellow rays, brown disk flowers.
