Terpsichore spathulata A.R.Sm.
sensu Mickel & Smith 2004, Pteridophytes of Mexico. Green spores, but lots of white ones, too (or are those
paraphyses??). Hydathodes inconspicuous, at best. ID tentative.

Nevado de Colima, above the ranger station and just past the campsites, education
complex, etc. Rare (?—one patch seen in brief visit) in deep shelter of base of
overhanging boulder, with Cystopteris, Asplénium, etc. Growing from thin mossy soil of
the overhanging rock (igneous). Area was dominated by tussock grasses with scattered
Pinus, Penstemon, Polystichum, Ribes, etc.
2009-August-18. N19.58222 W103.60207 +/-20m. WGS 84. 3456 m elevation.
Duplicates: 4, to: MEXU, DUKE, NY, UC. Chromosome material fixed.
