side Avenida del Oro, just east of junction with Sandia
Creek Drive, 2 miles west of junction of Rancho
California Road and Route 1-15. Elevation 1570 - 1670
feet. Plateau, ancient basalt lava flow with outcrops
and boulders, soil mostly sandy-loam.

Evergreen chaparral, recently burned; with
Xylococcus, Ceanothus, Rhus laurina, Eriogonum.
Disturbed areas with Lotus hamatus, Trifolium,
Bromus. Local, common perennial with rhizomes (1-10
cm) from caudex, several ascending stems; flowers
magenta-pink, erect, funnelform; small flowered female
and larger perfect flowers present on different plants.
Young plants on banks of eroded drainage ravine.
