McTimmonds Valley). Elev. ca. 132 m. Silty clay loam,
disturbed; with weathered volcanic ash.
Old field, open vegetation with grasses, scattered shrubs,
conifer plantings; in moist as well as dry sites; a few
smaller individuals on roadside bank with Bromus,
Fescue, Rubus. Rather common perennial 1.5-2 m tall;
firm, well-rooted rootstock; stems erect from short
rhizomatous bases, pithy-hollow, old stems sometimes
glaucous; leaves soft-bristly; few flowers, very pale pink,
small, unisexual. Leaves variable.
