Location
Mexico. Chihuahua. North of Chihuahua on Mex. Highway 15, then 22 km west of highway in Santa Clara Canyon.

Habitat
On vertical, mostly recent exposed, rhyolitic rock, north-facing. With Quercus hypoleucoides, Q. arizonica, Q. rugosa, Fraxinus velutina.

Description
Leaves thick, very succulent, very glaucous; stems very brittle, stems projecting out from cliff at 30-150°; corolla red, the lower lobes rounded, the upper less so, upper reflexed as much as 20-30°, or on older flowers only ca. 5°; lower lobes projecting downward at ca. 80°, at the base, at orifice, with a yellow band ca. 1 mm wide; each lobe with a faint, very fine maroon central vein. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
