Old pasture slope up to lower edge of woods which cover
the upper part of the hill. Grassy, with scattered shrubs and
young trees, with Solanum carolinense, Teucrium
canadense, Elaeagnus umbellata, Bouteloua curtipendula;
the lower edge of woods with Fraxinus americana, Juglans
nigra, Acer saccharum, Quercus muehlenbergii,
Campanula americana, Desmodium glutinosum.
Shrub 4 m. tall, with several arching stems in a tight clump,
the wood specimen from the largest stem, 8 cm. in diameter,
6 years old. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw,
MADw, MEXUw RSAw. Immature fruit.
