Near top of steep NW-facing slope, forest of Tilia
americana, Quercus rubra, Ostrya virginiana, Acer
rubrum, Primus serotina, in last decade being invaded by
Lonicera maackii.
Tight clump of several stems, to 3 m. tall, the wood
specimen from the largest, 10 cm. in diameter, the
heartwood 20 years old, but the wide sapwood with rings
difficult to count, with replacement shoots of all sizes.
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw,
MEXUw, RSAw. A few young sprouts still with green but
senescent leaves. Petals yellow.
