shield; mosaic of semideciduous forest,
wooded savanna and transitional scrub.
Small tree; tortuous; with latex; perianth
of staminate flowers white; plants very
irritating. Abundant in fissures and
margins of granitic outcrops. This species
very common as sub-shrub in wooded savannas
but in this habitat becomes a small tree
and could be considered a co-dominant.
