hillside - wooded. Moisture conditions: very moist. wood - mulch.

Description
spore length: 9.5 - 13 microns; spore width: 5.5 - 7.5 microns; spore shape: round to elliptical; spore texture: smooth; spore color: clear; spore print color: white. I tapped the wood substrate over a glass slide to get the spores for the photo and I realized afterward that I probably released many immature spores and only got a couple of mature spores in the photos. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) confirmed that this specimen is Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa.
