  • Location

United States of America. Missouri. Saint Louis Co. Valley Park.

  • Habitat

bottomland - river. Moisture conditions: soaking wet. wood - dead.

  • Description

spore length: n/d; spore width: n/d; spore shape: n/d; spore texture: n/d; spore color: n/d; spore print color: n/d. This is this secotioid form of Lentinus tigrinus (Morgan, 1895, p. 37). No spore was obtained because the gills on this form are aborted and covered with a fleshy membrane layer that restricts any deposit (please refer to the cap & gill photo). This specimen was verified by Jay Justice, Dr. Walt Sundberg and Dr. Andrew Methven. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Lentinus tigrinus, however this specimen has been included to show the sectioid form of Lentinus tigrinus.
