Taste was mild. DNA analysis in 2015 returned Tylopilus felleus, but the macro and micro information along with Dr. Andrew Methven's close study of the actual voucher specimen in 2015 confirmed this specimen is Tylopilus indecisus. Dr. Methven states that the specimen has reticulation only at the stipe apex, otherwise it is furfuraceous over all (see annotations).
