ISLAND OF SIBUYAN, APRIL, 1910 NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN 03933004 12804# Everettiodendron philippinense Merr* Slender tree in sticky red soil of a forested bench at 1850 feet; stem subterete, 3 inches thick, 20 feet high, branched at the top; wood odorless and tasteless, soft* the sapwood white, red in the center with fine radial rays; hark brown, more or less shedding in small plates, on the branches smooth; branches widely spreading, rebranched, the twigs subereot; leaves horizontal or descending, coriaceous, flat or slightly folded, tips recurved, deep dull green above, much lighter green beneath, petioles brownish; fruits solitary from the uppermost leaf axils, subpendulous, dull reddish brown, eubglobose, 1 inch across, with a conspicuous apex, 3-eelled, the thick exooarps falling off leaving the seeds in tact to the persistent placentae; upon 1 inch long stalks; some trees 1 foot thick stem and 35 feet high; wood rather and reddish brow#; fruits mature* jifgf3© PHILIPPINE ISLANDS PLANTS DISTRIBUTED BY A.
