Caballero, 3.7 km (by road and by air) NW of bridge over Rio Comarapa at Comarapa, along highway to Cochabamba. 17°54’S, 64°3 3’3 0”W alt. 2000 m. Dry forest in steep valley, with Acacia aroma, Erythrina falcata, Lithraea ternifolia, Schinopsis haenkeana, Duranta serratifolia. The arid, more open and brushy vegetation on the slopes with Fourcroya, Cleistocactus candelilla. Scattered on more open steep rocky slope, many plants with pale green or yellowish-green inflorescences. Basal rosette of many thick fleshy leaves. Peduncle 4 m. tall, 7 cm. in diameter, then the inflorescence axis an additional 3.5 m. tall. Flower buds only, the stamens seemingly developing normally but the pistil seems deformed. Coll.: M.
