Roadside, heavily grazed shortgrass prairie, with
Bouteloua, Yucca glauca, Artemisia, Cylindropuntia
imbricata, Oenothera albicaulis.
Densely caespitose perennial, 25 cm tall, 70 cm across,
petals deep reddish-violet with white wing tips petals
fading yellowish; uncommon.
