The New York Botanical Garden Etbnobotany and Floristics of Belize Project No. 15 Agavaceae Sansevieria trifasciata Pram det. D. E. Atha, 1999 Belize. Cayo District: Near San Ignacio Town, ca. 8km (by air) s.W. of San Ignacio Town and ca. 3 km S of western Highway. West bank of Macal River, Ix Chel Farm down hill from healers hut in abandoned garden, ca. 17°06,.62"N, ca. 89°04’.38”W. ca. 250 m. Succulent herb 1.5 m tall. Leaves variagated, lance shaped ending with a sharp point. Spreading rhizomes. Cultivated. Good for diabetes - wash «Hire leaf and mash it and soak 1 pound in 2 quarts of water in evening - take 4 ozs in morning and before bed. Snake bites - wash leaf gently beat it, chew and swallow liquid - take another piece pound it and tie it to wound. Dosen’t cure but alleviates until further help found.
