10893. Alsurites aolucoana ffilld, Sreat tree
mostly scattered along the steep wooded slopes of the
Sibulan and Baruring rivers from 2000 to 3000 feet;
trunk 1 to 3 feet in diameter, round, SO to BO feet high,
branched from the /Biddle; branches divarioate, rather
long and widely spreading, rebranched above the middle,
forming a rather flattish crown; twigs suberect, few,
thick* wood very white, soft and dry fibrous, throughout,
light, odorless and tasteless; barJc comparatively thiok,
brown or grayish btfown when young, lenticelled, or densely
and thinly checked longitudinally, gray when old; leaf
petioles spreading from the ends of the twigs; yellowish
brown, terete and flexible; blades mostly descending,
eonduplioate on the upper lucid green surface, the young
ones oovered with a yellowish gray powder (which gives
the tree from a distance a very pronounced appearance),
paler green beneath, margins wavy, the main nerves yellow-
ish green; inflorescence terminal (althougn the young
branches shrot out from below it) yellowish gray including
the calyces; the 6 petals creamy white, recurved, flat
otherwise; anthers light yellow; the short filaments
and pistil whitish; infrutescence 6 inches to a foot or
more long, upon l/2 inch thiok woody brown stalks; nuts
irregularly globose or somewhat flattened, hard, green, 2
