Asparagus capensis L. var. capensis		
Citrusdal; Modderfontein. Approximately 1 km west of the farmyard, in
a gorge. Relatively dry mountain fynbos. In clayey loam soil on a slight
slope. Shrub, 1 m high, multi-stemmed, lower 40 cm of stems bare.
The roots lie more or less horizontal below the soil surface. Bark dark
ash-coloured. Leaves blue-green. Flowers white. Filaments white.
Anthers yellow. Ovary pale yellow-white. Flowers abundantly.
Flowers have a characteristic scent, quite pleasant. Short flowering
period. Plants occur one-one - therefore noted as uncommon.
Common name: ‘Katdoring, katbos’.
