disturbed by annual floods, open grassy areas, and brushy
and wooded areas with Piperaoem aduncum, Gynerium
sagittatum.

Shrub 3 m. tall. Monoecious; inflorescences erect some
branches with all male spikes, some with both. Female
spikes green; male spikes yellow-green.
