Tunari to Cochabamba.
17°00’S, 65°26’W. alt. 325 m.
Lowland tropical rainforest and edges, disturbed but still
with some of original canopy trees, with Heliconia rostrata,
H. aemygdiana, H. stricta, Gurania lobata, G. acuminata,
G. eriantha, Piper heterophyllum, Costus scaber.
Common in secondary growth. Shrub 2.2 m. tall, but gets to
3.5 m. tall here. Sap milky. Monoecious; terminal spike (if
present) female at base, male at tip, the female bracts green
at all stages; male spikes may, ascending.
