A small creeping plant, occurring among grasses and underbrush.
Leaves ovate or orbicular, 1-1^ cm. long. Staminate flowers in
long, slender spikes, and the pistillate solitary or 1 or 2 in the axilg,
of the leaves or a,t the base of the staminate spikes. In Texas and
Mexico, as well as in Paraguay.
