canic slopes and alluvial flats; natural vegetation humid
montane (cloud) forest, but partially cleared for pasture,
etc. Colima/Jalisco line passes through ranch. (Near 103°
42'W, 19°27'N.) Elev.1350 m. Just past Caballeriza on
road to Lago Epazote from Ranch hdqtrs. Pond at foot of
steep hills covered with forest; with Typha, Salix, &
Hedyosmum. Abundant perennial, terrestrial fern.
