BROMELIACEAE OF ECUADOR *. Puva retrosa Gilmartin Plants common on rocky slopes? flowering and fruiting; nearly 1»5 m tall? scape stout, 2—8 cm thick? inflorescence about 75 cm tall, occasionally curved? nearly 10 cm thick, covered by rusty-brown indument which is increased in the fruiting individuals? petals green, flowers decurved? about 5 plants in a clump, leaves with strikingly white indument on adaxial surface. Habitats cleared subparamos with Melica, Baccaris, and Coriariaceae. ECUADOR: Prov. Chimborazo: Between Cajabamba and Pallatanga, about 3 km above Juan de Velasco.
