Terrestrial on road bank; leaves in spreading rosette green strongly suffused with p^(uple wavy cross-bands in sheaths and lower blade, indistinct longitudinal rharoon lines in sheath; scape erect, lowermost bracts subfoliaceous, middle and upper green with longitudinal maroon lines, these fusing to maroon area at base of sheaths, axis of scape and inflores- cence purple-green with metalic sheen; inflorescence erect; primary bracts like scape bracts; branches spreading to subascending; floral bracts dried brown, sepals castaneous, flowers greenish-white with maroon suffusion, night-blooming.
