Alluvial soil.
Very degraded creekside woodland, understory, with
Comus racemosa, Parthenocissus, Lonicera,
Crataegus, Toxicodendron. Scarce small tree about 4
meters tall, fruits pendulous, outside of fruit pale
strawberry pink, seeds and arils orange; leaves very
dark green above, slightly paler below, stems green
on last branches.
