north of Maple Lake and Archer Avenue, 0.6 mile
southwest of 104th Avenue, Willow Springs; opposite
Fairmount Cemetery, southeast side of Des Plaines
River, Sag Bridge 7.5 minute topoquad. Glacial
boulders, humus; clay-loam soil.
Mesic to wet-mesic floodplain forest, currently not able
to flood [land-locked]; with Acer saccharinum,
Juglans nigra, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Lindera
benzoin, Ulmus americana. Infrequent shrub 2.5 meter
tall, leaves horizontal, flowers dull garnet red-brown,
pendulous, anthers white; stems greenish when young.
