Leaves glaucous* yellow-green with olive-brown base and a band of purple-brown at the transition point. Inflorescences 2 m., arching out more or less horizontally from the vertical cliff face, the stalk purplish on sun side, 22-26 branched (these branches sometimes branched), drooping; bracts purplish black on main stalk and darker with white margin on branches, the margins becoming soarious with age* Floral bracts glaucous, blue-purple toward sun and greenish beneath; petals purple, filaments and style white, anthers black, pollen yellow.
