Chaco scrub forest to 10 m. tall, at this
time almost completely leafless, but many
plants blooming. Soil sandy. With Ruprech-
tia triflora, Herreria, Capparis spp.
Small tree 6 m. tall; trunk 20 cm. in
diameter, soon branching; leaves small.
Flowers held with open face upward, odorless;
petals rose-pink; anthers creamy white; stig-
mas white. Many dried or half-dried fruits
on ground, with shiny black seeds.
