Grazed chaco scrub in bottom of valley and gentle slopes, downstream continuation of Cañón del Zapallar, the stream bed now completely dry. Prosopis alba, Caesalpinia paraguariensis, Cestrum parqui, Achatocarpus praecox, Capparis retusa, C. speciosa, Opuntia spp. 20° 12’Ss, 63°24’W. alt. 830 m. Rare and scattered in area. Shrub 2.5 m. tall, the single woody trunk 15 cm. in diameter, soon branched. Pads held horizontally on the long axis, vertically in the second. Flowers apparently yellow (none open).
