General vegetation: campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally
forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams.
This habitat: abandoned cultivated field behind main house of
fazenda, with dense growth of grasses & herbs 3-4 dm. tall. Poor
soil, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay. Originally cerrado
vegetation. Perennial» 9 radially trailing stems from
taproot, each stem to 2 ft. long, rising to about 1
ft., or shorter & completely repent. FIs. med. to
golden-yellow, size & color of Ranunculus« Anthers
yellow, ovary It. green, sepals pale yellow with red
