Samaipata to Comarapa. Arid cactus crub on
slopes, with Aspidosperma quebracho-bianco,
Prosopis kuntzei. %B*05i^)nS, 64°08,30"W; alt.1350 m.
"carapari" Massive, 7 m. tall, the trunk 35 cm. in
diameter, the first branches at 2 m; branches erect;
ribs 8; trunk with spines, but upper branches
mostly spineless; cut stems yellow throughout.
Fruit with dense covering of reddish tan bristles,
when ripe the bristles in groups and easily
brushed off; pulp pale greenish, juicy, edible, very
delicious, like kiwi or strawberries.
