Scarsdale Collecting along trail in Bronx River Reservation entering at
Bronx River Parkway in Scarsdale to Tucahoe along the Bronx River,
ca. 40°58’N, ca. 73°58’W. Associated species : Acer, Aesculus,
Pinus, Tsuga canadensis, Ornithogalum and Alliaria.
Herb ca. 40 cm tall. Leaves large heart shaped with hairy stalk. Single
curious cup shaped flower, with three red-brown calyx lobes in crotch
of two leaves stalk. Crushed root has a ginger smell. Common.
