Comarapa on highway to San Isidro. 17°58,30,fN,
64°29’W. alt. 1700 m. Grazed arid scrub along
Quebrada Pujio, a dry wash. Achatocarpus, Prosopis

Common, 2.5-4 m. tall, branched, many of the old branches arching
downward, then sometimes continuing to sprout upward. Flowers
open (8:30 A.M., overcast drizzly), lightly and pleasantly
fragrant, this is the commonest cactus in the area and all the
plants are in full flower now; most plants seem to close the
flowers by noon, but others seem to be open later); outer tepals
recurved, yellow-green with purplish tinge, grading into the
wider, pure white erect inner petals; filaments very pale
yellow-green, one set appressed against the upper petals, the
great majority clustered below and with the tips upcurved; anthers
creamy white; stigmas light yellow-green.
