highpoint on road from Ipati to Lagunillas. Dry forest on
hills, Caesalpinia paraguariensis, Capparis flexuosa,
Herreria, Ximenia americana, Anadenanthera.
19°45’S, 63°36’W. alt. 1175 m.
Stems arching and sprawling. Flowers past (11:00 A.M.,
mostly cloudy), many of the wilted flowers with scarab
beetles within apparently devouring the stamens; outside of
flower yellow-green with rose to purplish bracts; inside of
tepals white. Fruit green, coarsely ribbed-tuberculate.
