Wisconsin, Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center.
Ungrazed forest of Quercus alba, Acer rubrum, Ulmus
rubra, Carya cordiformis, selectively logged several years
ago and canopy opened enough to allow dense thickets of
Rubus occidentalism R. cf. alleghaniensis.
T 10 N; R 1 E; SE1/4 SW1/4 Sect. 25.
Common in more open places, but certainly was entirely
absent from this whole area 20 years ago, to 2.5 m. tail,
some plants with stems to 5 cm. in diameter; branches
spreading. Fruiting inflorescence hanging, the fruit
eventually dark purple on red-purple inflorescence
branches.
