Phytolacca americana L. var. americana
NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek
Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School, at the edge of the
woods and the school’s athletic fields. Large plant, to approx. 2
m. Stems bright magenta; flowers white; fruits green. At
disturbed edge of Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Rhus
glabra and Ailanthus altissima.
