Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to an offset of 47.5 km (midpoint of the provided offset range) south from the approximate geographic center of Paramaribo. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate the city of Paramaribo in Suriname. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the city (spatial boundaries provided on Google Maps). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent of Paramaribo by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the city. To find the offset coordinates and the uncertainty radius: input coordinates (5.847634, -55.193649), offset direction (S), offset distance (47.5 km), linear extent (10.74 km), measurement error (.005 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset at a heading). Added 2.5 km (half of the offset range) to the uncertainty radius to account for the added uncertainty of the offset provided in a range format. Note: Coordinates are in the vicinity of Zanderij.
