BRITISH COLUMBIA: West base of Rocky Mountains
Kootenay River Valley ca 6.0 miles N of Ft.
Steele. Large dry to mesic meadow between
Hwy 95 and river, ca 300 m W of railroad tracks
Moist soil along E bank of river with Populus
trichocarpa, Juncus, Carex, Erigeron. Pits,
mostly simple-stemmed but with an occasional
branched individual; foliage light yellow-
green and not at all glaucous as in populations
farther south and east; perianth medium blue-
violet, the segments mostly somewhat emarginate
-aristulate; pit height in this location con-
siderably greater than in adjacent population
on grassy flat 300-400 m to the SE. Soil very
light and fine textured.
