Road Guano - Riobamba, km 1 from Guano. Rocky slope
with xerophytic vegetation. (78*38fW 1#38*S)
Alt. c. 2800 m, 12 Jan. 1984.
Up to 1 m high, often bending. Ribs 10-11 with a
V-formed furrow over the areoles. Spines about 15» one
or a few very long, up to 4 cm. Flower 6 cm long,
orange red. Limb extended to 2,5 cm. Stamens violet.
Style yellowish green. Stigmas 9, Fruit 3 cm in
diameter» 2 cm thick, brownish green.
