The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Cactaceae Cereus comarapanus Cárdenas det. M. Nee, 2005 Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Caballero, 3.6 km (by road) E of Saipina and 1.4 km E of San Rafael, on road to Pulquina. 18°06’06”S, 64°33’20”W. alt. 1430 m. Gentle slope of broad alluvial fan, between hills to the east and well above the river valley. Grazed desert scrub with Neoraimondia herzogiana, Harrisia tetracantha, Cleistocactus candelilla, Cereus comarapanus, Browningia caineana, Cercidium praecox. 3-5 m. tall, single stem at the base to 20 cm in diameter. Flowers apparently not open now (10:00 A.M., sunny) and fading, with farty-mousy odor; inner tepals white, the outer ones brownish purple. Coll.: M. Nee, D. Villarroel & O.
