(by road) NNW of Mataral on road to San Juan del Potrero. Arid valley bottom of rio San Juan, with Prosopis kuntzei, P. alba, Iodina rhombifolia, Capparis atamisquea, C. speciosa, Cereus comarapanus, Opuntia salmiana. 18°02,45"S, 64° 14*25”W. alt. 1475 m. Hulala" 4 m. tall, the stem 15 cm. in diameter, the branches 4-7-ribbed. Old flowers reddish. Fruit green, then reddish, held above the horizontal, asymmetrical.
