Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Cordillera, along road from
Camiri to Ipati, 18.5 km N of bridge over Rio Parapeti on N
side of Camiri. Alluvial soil in bottom of broad valley,
grazed and disturbed, former chaco scrub forest, with a
trickle of flowing water in stream. Geoffroea, Achatocarpus
praecox, Bromelia serra, Capparis tweediana, Celtis
ehrenbergiana, Bougainvillea campanulata.

Common (if all plants are of this species) terrestrial, but
rarely in bloom. Fruiting bracts bright red; flowers white
with purple. Fruit green.
