The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Bromeliaceae Bromelia serra Griseb. det. M. Nee, 2000 Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Cordillera, along road from Camiri to Ipati, 18.5 km N of bridge over Rio Parapeti on N side of Camiri. Alluvial soil in bottom of broad valley, grazed and disturbed, former chaco scrub forest, with a trickle of flowing water in stream. Geoffroea, Achatocarpus praecox, Bromelia serra, Capparis tweediana, Celtis ehrenbergiana, Bougainvillea campanulata. 19°53.79’S, 63°32.03’W. alt. 900 m. Common (if all plants are of this species) terrestrial, but rarely in bloom. Fruiting bracts bright red; flowers white with purple. Fruit green. Coll.: M. Nee 51323 9 Nov. 2000 03854176
