Chaco forest on slightly rolling area, sandy soil. With
Astronium, Anadenanthera macrocarpa, Phyllostylon
rhamnoides, Bromelia serra, Capparis speciosa, C. retusa,
Ximenia americana.

Common, forming patches. Few flowering and fewer seen
with green fruit. Upper leaves and inflorescence bracts bright
red; petals white with purple mark.
