Plants of BOLIVIA
Bromeliaceae Bromelia hieronymi Mez
det. M. Nee, 2008
Depto. Tarija, Prov. O’Connor, 13.4 km S of Palos
Blancos on road to Carapari, then 3.8 km. E, 1.2 km E of
buildings at Rancho Tres Aguadas.
21°31’15”S, 63°46’40”-55” W. alt. 850 m.
Flat area in valley bottom and gentle slopes, grazed chaco
woodland, with Schinopsis marginata, Ruprechtia triflora,
Vallesia glabra, Synandrospadix vermitoxicus.
Terrestrial, a densely leafy rosette, with horizontal offsets at
the base which take root. This seems to be the only spiny
terrestrial bromeliad here, but only two plants seen with
inflorescences, so hard to estimate. Fruit glaucous green.
